Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, Galatasaray's striker, has declared himself fully ready to take on Juventus in the Champions League play-off second leg, despite recently experiencing knee pain.
The Istanbul club has already taken a giant step toward qualification after its emphatic 5-2 victory in the first leg in Istanbul.
In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Osimhen was quick to reassure fans: “My knee is fine. I still feel a slight discomfort, which explains my absence from the last league match. But thanks to the work of the medical staff, I’ve been able to return to the group and I’m ready to face Juventus.”
The Nigerian striker also highlighted the collective nature of the challenge: “The responsibility is significant, but it doesn’t rest on me alone. The whole team has contributed to bringing the club to this level. Galatasaray is a big club, used to representing Turkey with ambition on the European stage.”
Ambitious as ever, Osimhen believes in his team’s ability to make history: “We have the opportunity to write an important chapter. I want to thank the supporters and the coach for their trust. Without my teammates, nothing is possible. We’re going to fight together to get the best result.”
Tactically, he insisted on the importance of pressing: “If I don’t score, I try to help the team in other ways. Juventus builds from the back, so we’ll need to press high and prevent the ball from getting to Yildiz and Conceição, because they’re very dangerous. Defending starts from the attack.”
Finally, he concluded with determination: “We won’t sit back in Turin despite our first-leg advantage. We know Juventus are a strong team, but we’ll play with character and fight until the very end.”
