Ousmane Diakite free to face Wolves despite yellow card risk | OneFootball

Ousmane Diakite will be available for the Black Country derby at Wolves despite fears his booking in West Brom’s 1-1 draw with QPR would trigger a ban.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the late caution was his fourth in the Championship, with an earlier yellow in the EFL Cup at Newcastle not counting towards league totting up because suspensions are competition specific.

The midfielder therefore avoids suspension for Molineux, but remains on four league bookings and one caution from a one-match ban.

If he collects a fifth league yellow at Wolves, he would miss the first game after the international break, the home meeting with Birmingham City on 10 October.

Diakite could play three games with Mali during the break after his international call-up. Under EFL rules, players serve a one-match suspension after five bookings up to the 19th league fixture. Albion have played seven games, with four wins and one defeat.
