Roma is working to strengthen the left flank and bring in two more signings for Gian Piero Gasperini this transfer window.
Niccolò Fortini and Woller Molfe remain candidates for the full-back position, while Yannick Ferreira Carrasco is not the only name on sporting director Frederic Massara’s radar for the attacking midfield.
In recent hours, Raheem Sterling has also been linked with the Giallorossi.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli have shown interest in the English winger, but he could also be an option for teams like Roma in Italy, who are looking for that type of player. Sterling is currently out of Chelsea’s squad.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there have been contacts with Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna, but whether the Azzurri qualify for the Champions League playoffs or not could impact Antonio Conte’s club’s late-market priorities.
At Roma, the main target at the moment remains Carrasco, but Al-Shabab’s lack of openness to a loan deal could push Massara to consider alternatives.
Sterling therefore remains an option, an option worth considering should the financial conditions for a move arise in the final days of the transfer window.
