Over 10,000 Lazio supporters marched through Rome to protest against President Claudio Lotito, urging him to free the club from his influence.

According to Football Italia, the ultras have been boycotting home matches for much of the past year despite holding season tickets, aiming to show anger at the club’s direction.

With Lotito showing no sign of stepping back or easing tensions with the fanbase, organisers called a mass gathering. The march ran from Ponte Milvio to the gates of the Stadio Flaminio, where a stage hosted speeches, music and entertainment.

Fans displayed banners and flags, chanted against Lotito and urged him to sell the Aquile. Organisers billed it as the largest act of dissent by Italian football supporters.

Lotito took the Biancocelesti from the verge of bankruptcy in 2004 and has kept them afloat, but many supporters fear this has come at the expense of sporting ambition.

Protests intensified last week after it was confirmed Lotito had invested in the purchase of Reggina.
