FC Bayern wants to keep Michael Olise at the club for the long term. A massive buyout clause could become a key issue in the negotiations.

Michael Olise still has a long-term contract with FC Bayern that runs through 2029. Nevertheless, club officials are already working on ways to keep the French superstar with the club even longer.

The plan: Olise could eventually receive a new contract running through 2032, which would elevate him to the very top tier of the squad in terms of compensation. However, any potential negotiations are unlikely to focus solely on salary.

According to information from Sport BILD, sources close to the 24-year-old have repeatedly indicated that they would like a buyout clause included in any new contract.

Such a safeguard would be nothing new for Olise. The attacking player already had a similar clause at Crystal Palace. It was precisely this clause that enabled Bayern Munich to sign Olise from London for 53 million euros in the summer of 2024.

Olise’s buyout clause could exceed 200 million

In his current Bayern contract, however, no such option exists. Sporting Director Max Eberl explicitly clarified to Sport BILD that Olise does not currently have a buyout clause.

In principle, however, such contract structures are apparently no longer off-limits at FC Bayern. The contracts of Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala are also said to contain similar provisions.

The key factor, therefore, would be the amount. Should Olise indeed extend his contract through 2032, Sport BILD considers a fixed buyout clause of more than 200 million euros to be a realistic possibility.

For Bayern, such a high sum could represent a compromise: Olise would get the long-term exit option he apparently desires, while at the same time the club would be financially well-protected in the event of a later departure.

Real Madrid and Liverpool FC are reportedly still keeping a close eye on Olise. There is no immediate pressure on Bayern to act, given that his contract runs through 2029. Eberl has, however, already laid out a timeline: “We should know by next summer whether he is inclined to extend his contract or not.”
