In the Premier League’s power and set piece arms race Chelsea seem to have fallen behind, and Liam Rosenior was asked after today’s defeat if that was a factor.

He admitted it was, and that he and the club were already talking about how to fix it in the transfer market.

“Yeah, even over the last week, we’ve had lots of detailed conversations about what we need to look like moving forward from the summer window. You talk about all different aspects of the game, physicality, technicality, positional things.”

“They’re all things that we’re in talks in and we know what we want to improve and we know where we want to improve in the summer.”

Chelsea have more problems than just physicality

In all honesty, we didn’t notice physicality being the big difference between the two teams today. There was a gulf in quality, organisation and so many other things that the physical issues were just one small part of it.

We’re glad there are talks taking place about this summer’s plans – but we’d be lying if we had high hopes that anything was going to be done.

In other news…

Rosenior also took personal responsibility for the crippling lack of resilience in this team, which kills them every time they concede the first goal

Fans sarcastically cheered some of Chelsea’s passing in the latter stages of the game, a sure sign things are going very wrong.
