Real Sociedad announced on Saturday that Carlos Fernández has joined Real Oviedo as the club continue their summer clear-out.
According to Diario Vasco, Oviedo have not paid a euro for the 30-year-old striker, who had been under contract until 2027. Real save his final season's salary.
Fernández's spell was derailed by injuries. Real paid 10 million to Granada in January 2021, but that summer he tore his cruciate ligament in a friendly against AZ Alkmaar and never recovered his earlier form.
Even so, he hit 16 goals for Mirandés last season, though they were relegated. He signs for recently relegated Oviedo until 2028, has been training alone in recent days, and is already in Asturias.
Karrikaburu has also been told he will not stay next season. He is in England for pre-season, and Sporting are pushing to sign him, but first plan to sell Dubasin to Osasuna, a deal close to being finalised.
Decisions remain for Pellegrino Matarazzo as Aihen and Javi López fight for places. Zakharyan is on the market and has yet to justify the 12 million fee, with a possible route back to Russia not yet materialising. Pre-season moves on without new arrivals as the squad is trimmed.
