Real Oviedo are in talks with Real Sociedad to loan Mikel Goti for the attacking midfield role, La Nueva España reports.
With David Jiménez already on the pitch at El Requexón as the 15th summer signing, Julián Calero oversaw the first session of the week before Sunday’s game against Burgos. Injuries remain a concern, but attention is fixed on late business from the Tartiere offices.
Oviedo consider most work done yet believe the squad can still be improved. Jiménez, a Madrid academy product, has joined on a permanent deal to 30 June 2029. Despite already having Nacho Vidal and Aisar Ahmed at full-back, the club seized a market opportunity and Calero could also use him further forward.
The club have been seeking a No 10 for weeks. Calero said before the trip to Albacete that Alberto Reina is more a box-to-box eight, and Dani Villahermosa more a six than a link player, underlining the lack of a specialist between the lines.
Goti had seemed set to stay with Real Sociedad this season, but early call-ups point to a loan being sought. He spent the second half of last term at Córdoba under Iván Ania.
Offers continue to arrive, including Atlético forward Carlos Martín. Despite starting in the opening round, he is not in Diego Simeone’s plans and Oviedo have asked about his situation, as have other Segunda División clubs. Even so, the priority is to secure Calero the attacking midfielder he needs, and Goti fits the brief.
