Sean Dyche has returned to familiar ground with a daunting task ahead as Nottingham Forest strive to put an end to their poor form. Appointed as Forest’s third manager of the season, the 54-year-old inherits a side marooned in the Premier League’s bottom three and burdened by expectation. Yet, Dyche insists owner Evangelos Marinakis understands the scale of the challenge that lies before them.
Following the abrupt dismissals of Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, the latter lasting just 39 days, Forest’s hierarchy has turned to Dyche, whose reputation for discipline and defensive structure may be precisely what the club now needs. Signed on a contract until 2027, Dyche begins his tenure with a Europa League clash against Porto, hoping to end a 10-game winless run that has drained confidence at the City Ground.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of his debut, Dyche described candid talks with Marinakis as “realistic and honest,” praising the owner’s awareness of the club’s fragile form and need for stability. “He knows it’s not a gimme,” Dyche noted, hinting at a shared understanding of the work required to secure safety.
