Real Sociedad trained at Zubieta on Tuesday, with Mikel Oyarzabal completing his first session back with the group, 10 days before their La Liga opener against Betis at La Cartuja.
According to Diario Vasco, the captain’s return will be managed carefully and it remains to be seen whether he features in Saturday’s friendly against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Pellegrino Matarazzo also welcomed three players back to full training. Pablo Marín, Mikel Goti and Jon Karrikaburu all rejoined the group. Marín, the first to suffer a muscle issue in pre-season, had been out for more than three weeks.
Goti missed the meetings with Aston Villa, Toulouse and two games against Cologne due to a problem in his left ankle. Karrikaburu had been sidelined with a pubis issue, is not in Matarazzo’s plans and his camp continue to work on a departure from Real.
Real Sociedad have three more sessions, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, before travelling to the United Kingdom to face Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea on Saturday.
Guedes remains out of group work and will not travel to England for the Chelsea match. He underwent surgery last Tuesday for a personal matter unrelated to football, with the initial timeline set at two weeks. His availability for the Betis opener is still unclear.
