Pablo Longoria, Marseille president since 26 February 2021, is negotiating his exit. According to L'Équipe, vice-chair Shéhérazade Semsar-de Boisséson is seeking a successor, and only Vincent Labrune has lasted longer this century.
On 30 January 2021, supporters stormed the Commanderie. Longoria, André Villas-Boas and Alvaro Gonzalez tried to pacify them as vehicles were damaged. Eyraud took a hard line, Longoria instead urged unity on 17 February, hastening his rise.
On 21 May 2022, OM sealed second with a 4-0 win over Strasbourg as Monaco fell at Lens. Having hired Jorge Sampaoli, Longoria saw him quit six weeks later, then rebuilt for Igor Tudor.
On 8 February 2023, Tudor’s side overran PSG 2-1 in the Coupe de France after a pivot to intensity. The team later faded, losing to Annecy on penalties after 2-2, and third place meant Champions League qualifiers.
By 20 September 2023, after a bruising meeting with supporter groups, Longoria said he would file a complaint. Marcelino and Ribalta quit, he mulled resigning, McCourt kept him, and Medhi Benatia backed him.
On 9 July 2024, Roberto De Zerbi arrived. A thrilling start followed, including a 3-2 Olympico. Mason Greenwood shone, and a three-year project with Benatia and De Zerbi took shape before tensions rose in February 2025.
On 22 February 2025, after a 0-3 loss at Auxerre, Longoria railed at refereeing and was sanctioned. His credibility ebbed amid jostling and frayed ties. On 15 February 2026, Benatia quit publicly, McCourt backed him, and Longoria entered exit talks.
