Valencia are weighing up right-back reinforcements for next season, aiming to add at least one upgrade, and Pablo Maffeo has moved into focus. Tribuna Deportiva reports he is among the options being assessed by head coach Carlos Corberán and the technical team assembled by football CEO Ron Gourlay.
The search has already covered Aston Villa’s Kosta Nedeljkovic and Andrés García. Valencia pursued García across recent windows, but Unai Emery blocked a January move despite using him for only 63 minutes this season.
Nedeljkovic was close in winter as an under-23 for the B team, but bureaucracy ended the deal. Late last year Valencia followed former Elche full-back Álvaro Núñez, yet Celta stepped in and signed him for Vigo, even with his contract up on 30 June.
Maffeo is a live option, although nothing is advanced and any move would depend on RCD Mallorca’s needs as they fight to stay up. He is contracted until 2027, came close to leaving last season, and has a personal link to Valencia, where his daughter lives.
In summer 2025, Nottingham Forest offered 5.8 million, but Mallorca said no. With one year left approaching and after an irregular campaign, the club will review their asking price downwards in the coming months. For now, Maffeo is focused on the survival push and has become a regular starter.
