Pablo Mari has left Fiorentina’s camp, with a move to Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal advancing.
Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb report the defender departed Viola Park this evening and cleared his locker. He is set to fly to Saudi Arabia to complete the transfer.
The 32-year-old has made 16 appearances across Serie A and the Conference League this season, but was not in Fiorentina’s plans.
Inzaghi has been seeking a centre-back and had hoped to reunite with former Inter pair Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij. Those talks were tied to a possible exchange involving Joao Cancelo, which fell through when the Portugal international pushed to join Barcelona instead.
Mari’s career has taken in Manchester City, Flamengo, Arsenal, NAC Breda and Monza, before his move to Fiorentina in January 2025. In October 2022, he was stabbed in the back while shopping with his wife and young child in Italy.
