According to L'Équipe, Pablo Pagis has been given a three-match ban by the FFF disciplinary commission for a dangerous tackle in the Coupe de France tie against OGC Nice on 4 March.
The Lorient midfielder was sent off for a challenge on Charles Vanhoutte, the match finished 0-0 before Nice won 6-5 on penalties. The punishment adds to the club’s exit from the competition.
The suspension rules Pagis out against RC Lens on Saturday at 17:00 and against FC Toulouse on 21 March. An expected return is 5 April against Paris FC.
Lorient have not welcomed the decision and intend to appeal in a bid to have their attacking midfielder available before April.
Pagis, 23, also suffered a concussion in the same match, so remains sidelined. He is Lorient’s leading scorer with eight goals and now faces three weeks of enforced rest.
