Padilla, Rincón, Rego y Gere handed Athletic first-team squad numbers | OneFootball

Álex Padilla, Alejandro Rego, Hugo Rincón and Beñat Gerenabarrena, all born in 2003, have been handed first-team squad numbers for 2026/27. Athletic confirmed the change as Terzic’s side played a friendly in Bergamo against Atalanta.

The quartet, all products of Lezama, will hold first-team registrations and are listed in LaLiga with that status.

Padilla and Rego, with Rego recently renewed, were in the top-flight set-up last season under Ernesto Valverde but now take squad numbers.

Rincón and Gerenabarrena return to Athletic following excellent loan spells at Girona and Castellón respectively.

All four step into the senior pool. Peio Canales, still under-23 as a 2005 intake and back from a loan at Racing, will also form part of the first team while carrying a Bilbao Athletic number to free up a slot.
