Rai Sport journalist Paolo Paganini expects Fiorentina to appoint Maurizio Sarri next summer, citing former Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici’s admiration for the Lazio coach.

“In my opinion, the next Fiorentina coach will be Maurizio Sarri, because he’s a profile that Paratici likes a lot. The latter had a big hand in Sarri’s arrival to Juventus (in 2019). He’s a coach with whom we can start a new era.” He was speaking to Radio Firenze Viola.

Sarri, 67, only returned to the Biancocelesti last summer on a three-year deal, yet tensions with owner Claudio Lotito have resurfaced. The pair have traded public jabs over transfers and control at the club.

Sarri has also sided with organised fan groups protesting against Lotito, describing their stance as an act of love while urging a return to the stadium. His future at Formello remains uncertain.

Fiorentina endured a calamitous start under Stefano Pioli, sliding to the foot of Serie A. Results have picked up under Paolo Vanoli, although the club remain in the relegation zone.

Even if Vanoli secures safety, a summer change is still anticipated, particularly with Paratici now running the sporting department. Any Sarri appointment would feel close to a homecoming, given he grew up in Figline Valdarno on Florence’s outskirts.
