Palmeiras call-ups: Jhon Arias scores, Piquerez ankle sprain, Paraguay and Argentina debuts

Jhon Arias scored for Colombia as Palmeiras' internationals had mixed fortunes, with Piquerez suffering a right ankle sprain and debuts in the Paraguay and Argentina camps.
According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras were represented by eight players in this window, Gustavo Gómez, Mauricio and Ramón Sosa with Paraguay, Emiliano Martínez and Piquerez with Uruguay, Flaco López and Agustín Giay with Argentina, and Jhon Arias with Colombia.
Arias, wearing no. 11, played 72 minutes and scored in a 2-1 defeat to Croatia.
For Argentina, Flaco López and Giay began on the bench against Mauritania. Giay, on his first call-up and replacing Montiel, came on after 20 minutes of the second half.
López featured for about 15 minutes in the La Bombonera friendly, which ended 2-1 to the South Americans.
Paraguay's Palmeiras trio continued their World Cup preparations. Captain Gustavo Gómez started and finished the win over Greece, while Ramón Sosa and Mauricio began on the bench.
The naturalised Brazilian midfielder made his debut after 15 minutes of the second half, with Verdão's no. 19 following eight minutes later.
Against England, Piquerez started but lasted only 10 minutes before going off with a right ankle sprain. Emiliano Martínez entered late and played six minutes.
Next up for Verdão is Palmeiras v Grêmio on 02/04, Thursday, at 21h30 Brasília time in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
