Palmeiras are closing in on the signing of Colombian Jhon Arias for 2026, with only final details to settle after Fluminense failed to match their offer to Wolverhampton before Wednesday’s deadline.
According to Globo.com, the move would be on a four-year contract. Palmeiras will pay €25 million to the English club, about R$ 154 million at current rates, in an offer formalised in recent days.
Fluminense had a purchase preference in their agreement with Wolverhampton from Arias’s departure, which required them to match the proposal, but they did not exercise it.
Arias has long been a Palmeiras target. The club tried to sign him early last year, but Fluminense refused a domestic sale and he moved to England mid-season.
At the start of 2026, with Wolverhampton bottom of the Premier League on eight points from 24 games, Palmeiras reopened talks to bring the player back to Brazil.
Arias, 28, has played 26 matches this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
