Palmeiras lost the Campeonato Brasileiro under-20 title to Vasco at Nubank Parque, and relations with José Roberto Lamacchia are strained, with club councillors intensifying pressure for him to step down.

According to Nosso Palestra, figures from the political group to which Leila Pereira’s husband belongs want him out, arguing there is a clear conflict of interest.

Councillors pressed the Crefisa owner in a shared messaging group that also includes Lamacchia and Leila immediately after the under-20 decider. As of publication, neither had responded.

They want Lamacchia’s departure confirmed before the Copa do Brasil semi-final between Palmeiras and Vasco.

Their stance is that a club councillor cannot be putting money into a direct rival in the pursuit of a national title.
