Palmeiras are enjoying a rare pause in their calendar after a 2-1 away win over Sporting Cristal in the Libertadores group stage on Tuesday. Their next outing is against Remo in Belém on Sunday in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
There are four free days between the fixtures. According to Nosso Palestra, the squad reconvenes at the Academia de Futebol in São Paulo on Friday after two days off on Wednesday and Thursday, then trains on Friday and Saturday for Remo.
This season Abel Ferreira's side have had 15 intervals of at least three days between matches, with a strong return in those windows, 11 wins, two draws and only two defeats.
The Remo match will be Palmeiras' 32nd game of 2026 and will mark their 16th spell with at least three days of recovery, which represents half of the team's intervals this year.
After beating Sporting Cristal, Abel Ferreira used much of his press conference to criticise the congested schedule and the squad's physical wear. He said the club tried to change dates against Bragantino and in the Copa do Brasil, but that the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol rejected the requests.
Recent weeks included a demanding run, Athletico on Sunday, 19 April, Jacuipense on Tuesday, 23, in the Copa do Brasil, then Bragantino on Sunday, 26, and three days later Cerro Porteño in Asunción in the Libertadores.
