Palmeiras held a Saturday morning workout at the Academia de Futebol, the second since the Fifa break, with 11 players absent.

According to Globo.com, Abel Ferreira was without Gustavo Gómez, Giay, Piquerez, Emiliano Martínez, Arias, Sosa, Mauricio and Flaco López, all on international duty for friendlies, plus Kauan Lima, Erick Belé and Heittor with Brazil Under-20.

To bolster numbers, the staff drafted in Under-20 players, including Malian centre-back Konaté.

The session was split in two. First, 10-a-side teams worked in a reduced space without goalkeepers, using eight mini-goals at the ends to sharpen possession and marking.

It was followed by 11 against 11, this time with goalkeepers.

Paulinho, recovering from a muscle injury, repeated Friday’s programme, combining indoor work with on-pitch exercises under the Health and Performance unit.

The squad will have Sunday off and resume on Monday. The next match is on 8 October against Bahia at Nubank Parque in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
