Palmeiras are pushing ahead with talks to sign midfielder Danilo from Botafogo, with the academy graduate their top and only target this window.
According to Nosso Palestra, the proposed salary package from Palmeiras is superior to that offered by Zenit of Russia, with a contract of five years signalled to the player.
The package, including bonuses and a signing-on fee across the term, is understood to please Danilo and his camp. A final agreement on figures is not in place, with only minor adjustments thought to be required.
Palmeiras are preparing a new proposal for Botafogo, combining fixed sums and performance-related bonuses, which should be lodged by midweek. Player exchanges are initially off the table, with Botafogo believing the available options would not add to their side.
After a tribute to head coach Abel Ferreira in the club’s trophy room, president Leila Pereira told reporters the interest in Danilo remains, but there are no new updates. She said Barros has been speaking almost daily with Botafogo and the player’s representatives.
Pereira added that they are working on a deal, she believes the player wants to return home to Palmeiras, although any move also depends on Botafogo.
