Palmeiras reconvened on Wednesday night, then underwent medical testing on Thursday morning at the Academia de Futebol. According to Globo.com, samples were sent to partner Hospital Sírio Libanês.
The night-time return was scheduled to manage fasting across the squad, with echocardiograms and laboratory tests completed.
Medical coordinator Pedro Pontin said the screenings provide a clear snapshot of each player and allow comparison with checks from the start of the year. He added that blood and urine analysis, alongside cardiopulmonary evaluations, will guide training plans through the long interseason to maximise output.
Players also underwent physical assessments at the club’s Núcleo de Saúde e Performance. The process is seen as routine to begin the break in a controlled way.
The coaching staff did not attend the return, as the focus was on medicals. Abel Ferreira and his staff will rejoin when work switches back to on pitch sessions.
Some players had already been monitored after arriving early, including Paulinho, who aims to fine-tune his fitness following a long recovery from leg surgery, with the second half of the year in mind.
Vitor Roque did not take a holiday, continuing his recovery from ankle surgery and targeting a return without restrictions after the World Cup. The seven World Cup call-ups were absent, with return dates dependent on their nations’ progress, while Giay is on leave after time with Argentina.
