Flaco López struck twice and Andreas Pereira scored and assisted as Palmeiras beat Santos 3-0 in the Copa do Brasil first leg.

López opened the scoring, spinning his marker to find the far corner. On 44 minutes Andreas finished low after Brazão parried Marlon Freitas’s drive.

López later nodded in from Giay’s delivery. Maurício fashioned chances, once dribbling through on the left, but squandered a one-on-one after the break.

Santos rarely threatened, registering five attempts, none on target, leaving Carlos Miguel largely untested. Gustavo Gómez orchestrated play before making way for Alexander Barboza at half-time, with Piquerez back from a thigh issue. Abel Ferreira used two centre-backs with a back-three build-up, selecting Arias over Allan alongside Maurício, Vitor Roque and López.
