Palmeiras refresh academy as new generation takes the lead

Palmeiras continue to lean on homegrown talent in 2026, with a refreshed crop stepping up and academy graduates deciding recent wins.

According to Nosso Palestra, last year’s first two Paulistão rounds featured Naves, Vanderlan, Fabinho, Estêvão, Thalys, Benedetti, Allan and Luighi. Only three remain, Benedetti, Allan and Luighi, and two of them proved decisive in the latest victories.

Such turnover is natural in a system that produces talent at scale. Some head to Europe, others seek minutes elsewhere, and some are overtaken by competition. The pipeline stays constant and the next wave is close.

The club are monitoring Larson, Luis Pacheco, Riquelme Filipe and Eric Belé, youngsters now on the coaching staff’s radar. Their differing profiles fit a model that blends technique, tactical understanding and a competitive mindset.

Pacheco has become a first-team option for the holding role despite limited Under-20 game time, and is one of two choices for that position. Larson arrived on loan from Goiás for the Under-20s, impressed, then began getting senior minutes, important in the opening two Paulistão fixtures.

The generations are converging, with Larson and Pacheco in midfield, and Luighi and Allan in attack. Luighi has proposals and should leave in this window, while Allan is coveted and Palmeiras are rejecting high offers for the 21-year-old.

Next up, Palmeiras face Mirassol in the Paulistão on 17/01 at 20h30, Brasília time. Novorizontino host Palmeiras on 20/01 at 20h, Brasília time.
