Palmeiras and Santos renew their Copa do Brasil rivalry, and the competition’s history tilts green. On both previous meetings in the tournament, Palmeiras went on to lift the trophy.

The sides met again 17 years later, this time in the 2015 final. Santos won the first leg 1-0 at Vila Belmiro, but Palmeiras hit back 2-1 at the then Allianz Parque to force penalties.

Palmeiras won the shoot-out, the title decided by Fernando Prass’s spot-kick.

They now meet in the 2026 quarter-final over two legs. The opener is on Wednesday 26 at Nubank Parque.

The return is scheduled for the week of 2 September, with Santos as hosts. The winners will face Vasco or Vitória in the semi-final.
