Palmeiras returned to training on Thursday morning after beating Vitória 5-1 in the Campeonato Brasileiro’s second round at Arena Crefisa Barueri, with Andreas Pereira already turning attention to the Corinthians derby.
According to Nosso Palestra, the starters worked on recovery in the club’s recovery and neuroscience centre, while the remainder trained in a small-sided session alongside academy players.
Midfielder Figueiredo, in physical transition, joined part of the session before continuing with the Health and Performance unit. Felipe Anderson and forward Paulinho stayed in physiotherapy.
Pereira, who delivered three assists and was named player of the match, said he feels better with each game and values creating goals for team-mates. He hopes to maintain that rhythm and improve further.
He highlighted the collective as well, viewing Wednesday’s result as a timely boost to confidence. After a month of work, he believes the squad are nearing their usual physical levels and stressed the importance of the three points.
Palmeiras visit Corinthians on Sunday 8 at 20:30 in the Campeonato Paulista at Neo Química Arena. They currently hold the competition’s second-best record with four wins and two defeats.
Since 2021 the clubs have met 21 times, with Palmeiras ahead on eight wins, five defeats and eight draws, 28 goals scored to 19 conceded. The Brasileiro campaign resumes on Thursday 12 at 21:30 against Internacional.
