Palmeiras reach a historic milestone on Tuesday, facing Novorizontino in Novo Horizonte at 20:00 Brasília time in the Campeonato Paulista. Nosso Palestra notes that the fixture will be the club’s 400th under Abel Ferreira, consolidating the longest single managerial spell in their history.
Abel surpasses the previous record held by Oswaldo Brandão, who coached Palmeiras between 1971 and 1975 and took charge 283 times. Since arriving in November 2020, he has delivered one of the club’s most successful and consistent eras.
Across 399 games to date, Palmeiras have 229 wins, 93 draws and 74 defeats, scoring 675 and conceding 320. The balance highlights strong defending and steady attacking output season on season.
Ferreira has been on the touchline for the vast majority of fixtures, 366 in total. Assistants João Martins, Vitor Castanheira and Carlos Martinho have led the team in specific matches.
By competition, the tally includes 208 Campeonato Brasileiro games with 115 wins and 65 Libertadores outings with 43 victories. In the Paulista there have been 83 games, 53 wins and only nine defeats. The club have also contested the Copa do Brasil, Supercopa, Recopa and Mundial, maintaining a competitive level throughout.
The 400th arrives amid an excellent start to the campaign. Palmeiras go into the Novorizontino match with a 100% record in the Paulista, underlining the team’s momentum.
