Palmeiras are poised to make World Cup history, with seven players already confirmed for 2026, a club record for one edition that surpasses the six set in 1974.

According to Nosso Palestra, the current list comprises Emiliano Martínez, Flaco López, Gustavo Gómez, Joaquín Piquerez, Mauricio, Ramón Sosa and Jhon Arias, spread across several South American national sides.

The tally could yet grow. Argentine full-back Agustín Giay is with the national delegation as a potential injury replacement and might be added to the final squad before the tournament begins, which would take Palmeiras to eight representatives.

Back in 1974, six Palmeiras players represented Brazil at the World Cup, namely Emerson Leão, Luís Pereira, Alfredo Mostarda, Leivinha, Ademir da Guia and César Maluco.

That cohort formed the spine of the historic Academia palmeirense and held the benchmark for more than five decades. The 2026 picture also underlines the squad’s international profile. Unlike 1974, when every call-up was Brazilian, this generation spans multiple nationalities, reflecting recent investment in foreign talent and the club’s broader international outlook.
