Palmeiras intensified preparations on Thursday, 1 October, gearing up for Bahia in their first outing after the international window. A morning session focused on technical work in tight spaces.
According to Globo.com, Abel Ferreira’s staff drilled marking, passing, combinations and decision making, with several Crias da Academia involved as they have been throughout the week.
The squad then split into two teams of 11 for an 11-a-side training game, played in two 25-minute periods.
Palmeiras trained without their international call-ups for FIFA friendlies, namely Gustavo Gómez, Mauricio, Sosa, Piquerez, Emiliano Martínez, Arias, Giay and Flaco López. Academy players Kauan Lima, Erick Belé and Heittor are away with Brazil under-20.
Paulinho continued his recovery from a right thigh injury, working with physios and completing on-grass exercises under the guidance of the club’s health and performance unit.
He is expected to return after the FIFA break, prepared for the decisive run-in of the Brasileirão, plus the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores semi-finals. Palmeiras host Bahia on Thursday, 8 October at Nubank Parque at 21:30, then face Corinthians at home on 11 October.
