Palmeiras are planning for Paulinho to begin his physical transition by the end of next week as he continues his recovery from further leg surgery, according to Nosso Palestra.

Once that stage starts, he will be assessed weekly, with a return to matches expected after around 30 days. If the programme is followed, he should be available to Abel Ferreira in early March.

At the start of January he was about four and a half months on from revision surgery to his leg fracture, a relatively short span in the process, and the procedure always implied a longer recovery.

He has progressed well, working through physiotherapy and strengthening, although the opening weeks of the season still sit within a healing period that requires care.

On arrival, he was rehabbing a stress fracture sustained with Atlético-MG. Early in the campaign he featured in a handful of matches for Palmeiras, including a Choque-Rei that marked his only start.

Surgery on the same leg was already planned, but club and player agreed to delay it until after the Club World Cup in the United States. He played five games there and scored two goals, including the strike that clinched progression against Botafogo. He finished 2025 with 16 appearances and three goals.
