Palmeiras are into the 2026 CONMEBOL Libertadores quarter-finals. The first leg at Nubank Parque finished 1-1, then a 1-0 win at the Nueva Olla, courtesy of Gustavo Gómez, sealed their 14th quarter-final, a Brazilian record.
The squad resumed work on Thursday in Luque. According to Nosso Palestra, the session was at CONMEBOL's facility, with those who played more than 45 minutes limited to hotel recovery.
The remaining players trained for over an hour with physical and technical drills, including small-sided games. Midfielder Luis Pacheco came on in the second half for his 11th senior outing and said he had been urged by senior team-mates to be ready, adding gratitude to Abel Ferreira and the staff.
Palmeiras now host Vasco at 16:00 Brasília time on Sunday 23, in the 24th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
After training, Abel Ferreira visited CONMEBOL headquarters in Luque. He was received by Nery Pumpido, the body's deputy general secretary for football and a 1986 World Cup winner, and was given replicas of the Libertadores and Recopa Sul-Americana trophies he has lifted with Palmeiras.
The victory delivered the club's 150th win in Libertadores history, fifth all-time behind Boca Juniors (172), Peñarol (177), Nacional (185) and River Plate (202).
Since 2016, Palmeiras have contested 11 consecutive editions, totalling 115 matches, 74 wins, 25 draws and 16 defeats.
They now have 61 away victories in the competition, moving past Boca Juniors into third place outright.
