Panathinaikos have signed Santino Andino from Godoy Cruz for 10 million euros, equivalent to R$ 62 million. The 20-year-old Argentine winger had been linked with Flamengo in Argentina.
Olé reports that Flamengo and River Plate made strong offers, but Andino prioritised a move to Europe. Panathinaikos unveiled him on social media with a video featuring Argentine landmarks and cuisine.
Regarded as a prospect in Argentina, Andino is a left winger with youth national team experience. Last year he played the South American and the Under-20 World Cup, totalling 12 appearances, one goal and one assist.
For Godoy Cruz, he recorded six goals and three assists in 30 matches last year. His senior debut came in 2024, when he scored twice and provided two assists in 14 games.
Flamengo’s first major push this window was for Cruzeiro forward Kaio Jorge, but after setbacks they switched focus to midfield. Lucas Paquetá is now their leading target.
Flamengo should only invest in attack in the mid-year window. They are monitoring West Ham forward Taty Castellanos and, if the team are relegated in May, Flamengo should make a new approach.
