Paola Garcia made her first appearance of the second half of the year as Corinthians beat Mirassol 4-1 on Wednesday, ending a run of 11 matches without playing.
As reported by Meu Timao, the Colombian’s return halted a lengthy spell out of the side. Her previous outing was on 14 May, a 6-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino in the second round of the Paulistão Feminino, when she logged 27 minutes off the bench.
At Manoel Francisco Ferreira in Bálsamo, she replaced Dayana Rodríguez and played a little over 15 minutes. She tried a shot from distance that was blocked.
In her first season outside Colombia, the holding midfielder has had limited opportunities. She debuted in February under Lucas Piccinato against Atlético Mineiro and later featured under Emily Lima. She has started only three times and her only goal came in the Teal Rising Cup, a friendly in the United States.
She is regularly named in the squad but faces strong competition in midfield. Despite recent injuries to Andressa Alves and Ana Vitória, who returned against Mirassol, the coaching staff have preferred Duda Sampaio, Day Rodríguez, Letícia Monteiro and Vic Albuquerque.
Garcia will look to add more minutes on Saturday. Corinthians visit Bahia at Arena Fonte Nova at 17:30 in the 16th round of the Brasileirão Feminino.
