West Ham United entertained Newcastle United at the London Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure all three points at home in the Premier League. The Hammers made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the fourth minute when Jacob Murphy found the back of the net. However, Lucas Paqueta equalised for the home team in the 35th minute with a stunning strike. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men got their noses ahead in the latter stages of the first half due to an unfortunate own goal from Sven Botman. West Ham went into the half-time break 2-1 up on the scoreline.
Tomas Soucek killed the game off in injury time as West Ham secured an impressive 3-1 win in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham United player fared during the clash against the Magpies.
Areola made his fair share of saves and did well to limit the opposition to just one goal.
