Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe is set to step down from his San Francisco 49ers role to focus fully on football operations and his leadership at Elland Road.

According to ESPN, an announcement on the restructuring is expected imminently.

Now in his 25th year with the NFL franchise, Marathe is President of 49ers Enterprises, the Leeds owners, and Executive Vice President of Football Operations with the 49ers. That latter post includes building the squad each year for head coach Kyle Shanahan and overseeing all playing matters. He also sits on the NFL’s Future of Football Committee.

He has balanced those duties with growing responsibilities at 49ers Enterprises, most notably at Leeds United and, in a smaller capacity, Rangers.

Having played a key role in delivering Levi’s Stadium, Marathe’s focus is set to shift to Elland Road’s redevelopment and Leeds United’s continued growth on and off the pitch, while managing 49ers Enterprises’ expanding portfolio.

Further details are expected over the weekend, with the 49ers expected to confirm changes as they prepare for their season soon after the Premier League begins.
