Paris FC began preparations for a second straight Ligue 1 season on Thursday, with Liam Rosenior overseeing two days of medical testing at Orly. According to L'Équipe, almost the full squad returned, while Samir Chergui received extra days as he is with Algeria’s World Cup squad.
The mood was upbeat. Patrick Zabi, 19, the former Reims player, officially joined on one July.
Players completed cardiac and blood checks, physiology and posture assessments, nutrition and strength work, plus mental profiling, alongside a full dental check. Early feedback on fitness was very positive after an unusually long break.
Nearly eight weeks have passed since victory over PSG on 17 May, the final day of last season. Testing continues on Friday with the customary aerobic run. The first full training session is planned for Monday.
Changes could follow. Mathieu Cafaro is set to be released from the final year of his contract and has been linked with Nantes. Lohann Doucet may not be in the plans, with interest in Portugal.
Rosenior met the squad with assistants Kalifa Cissé, Justin Walker and Ben Warner, with Mickaël Boully continuing as goalkeeping coach. Two friendlies are scheduled before a camp at the Adidas training centre in Germany from 24 July to one August.
Paris FC are due to start their competitive season on Saturday 22 August at 20:45, away to promoted Troyes.
