Paris FC/PSG – A special title celebration for the derby

Paris Saint-Germain officially secured the 2025-2026 French league title on Wednesday night with the win against Lens in the postponed Matchday 29 Ligue 1 fixture. Now it has to be celebrated, which is not easy to organize since a street celebration with the traditional bus parade has been ruled out. It should finally happen this Sunday during the match against Paris FC (Matchday 34), under special conditions. This was confirmed by Le Parisien, while a trip from Jean Bouin to the Parc des Princes, just 50 meters away, has also been refused by the police prefecture.

“According to our latest information, confirming that of L’Équipe, the organization of a ceremony before the match is being considered. ‘There may be something, but an hour before the match,’ a source within the Paris FC management confirmed. The ceremony, subject to approval by the police prefecture, would therefore take place when the players return to the pitch before the warm-up, in an unprecedented and somewhat limited format. No podium would be installed on the field, and the trophy could be presented to the Rouge & Bleu supporters’ section (with a capacity of just under a thousand seats).”

Maybe PSG will finally find out how it can at least celebrate its league title a little. It is not a landmark achievement in its history, but it should not be overlooked. Above all, though, what stands out are the restrictions that the other parties do not seem willing to lift easily. This small ceremony is better than nothing, though it is still regrettable that even this little something is so difficult to obtain. Winning the Champions League will be necessary to have a real celebration in Paris again.
