Inter Milan have made their decision. Reportedly, the Nerazzurri have decided on Christian Chivu to replace Simone Inzaghi.

The Nerazzurri had been working on snapping up Cesc Fabregas to become Inzaghi’s successor.

However, Como President Mirwan Suwarson strongly rebuffed the Nerazzurri’s interest, and stated that the Lariani would refuse to release the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, Genoa coach Patrick Vieira was another name reportedly on Inter’s shortlist.

However, Inter Milan have made their decision today.

Reportedly, the Nerazzurri have already informed former Nerazzurri, Roma, and Ajax defender Christian Chivu that he is the man they want to become their next coach.

Chivu spent six seasons with the Nerazzurri. He won the European Treble with the club in the 2009-10 season.

And following retirement from playing time, Chivu coached Inter at several youth team level.

Last season, the Romanian got his first senior coaching position with Parma.

Therefore, Chivu represents a familiar face in a time of great uncertainty for Inter.

Of course, Inter will have to get the approval from Parma if they are to bring the 44-year-old back. However, according to Sky, that won’t be a problem.

Unlike with Como digging in their heels to keep Fabregas, the Gialloblu have allowed Inter to begin talks with Chivu.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri should be able to start work on finalizing a deal today.
