Earlier in the month, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had stirred the pot with his explosive press conference days after the defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico.
Perez reiterated his desire to continue leading Real Madrid, but more importantly, fired shots at Barcelona and their past links to the Negreira case.
Real Madrid have seemingly maintained that Barcelona are culpable in the Negreira case and that the club had bribed the referees to alter the results of key matches.

Perez has also tried to work actively with UEFA to try and speed up investigations around the Negreira case, knowing Barcelona could face huge sanctions if they are found guilty.
Barcelona’s top bosses were quick to deny these allegations. But even weeks after Perez’s presser, the club’s hierarchy continues to talk about the Real Madrid president’s comments.
Indeed, in a recent interaction during the dinner party ahead of the UEFA Women’s Champions League final, Barcelona’s interim president, Rafa Yuste, once again mentioned Perez in the conversation.
“Florentino’s words were pathetic. I stand by what Laporta said and would add that teams, big or small, have to know how to win and lose. What Real Madrid is showing is that they’ve had a terrible case of indigestion for the last two year,” he said (h/t SPORT).

“We always respect our opponents. To win La Liga, you have to win practically all 38 games of the season, and you don’t do that by bribing referees or matches, or with the Negreira case,” he said.
The interim president accused Perez of using the Negreira case as a smokescreen to deflect attention from Real Madrid’s second consecutive trophyless season.
He went on to describe the press conference as a desperate attempt to justify two years of underperformance.
