CAF president Patrice Motsepe says Gianni Infantino’s future should be settled by FIFA’s members at the ballot box.
"If someone has a problem with anyone, whether Gianni or anybody else, follow the procedure, follow FIFA’s procedure, it is as simple as that," he told Sky News on Thursday.
"If you want to remove him, go through elections. Let the 211 member associations decide."
CAF had already given Infantino unanimous backing through its executive committee, even as pressure mounted from other confederations.
Motsepe was in Salzburg on Wednesday night, meeting UEFA counterpart Aleksander Ceferin on the sidelines of the UEFA Super Cup between Paris SG and Aston Villa, which ended 2-1.
UEFA, Concacaf and the AFC are seeking Infantino’s removal as FIFA president. By contrast, CAF has publicly supported the 56-year-old Italian-Swiss, whose mid-summer plan to open FIFA to private investors sparked a storm across the game.
