Patrick Vieira appointed Senegal head coach | OneFootball

The Senegalese Football Federation announced on Tuesday that Patrick Vieira has been appointed head coach of the men's national team. The 50-year-old will be presented at a later date.

Its emergency committee met by videoconference on Monday and unanimously approved the appointment.

Vieira has been out of work since leaving Genoa in November last year.

The 1998 World Cup winner previously managed New York City from 2015 to 2018, Nice from 2018 to 2020, Crystal Palace from 2021 to 2023 and Strasbourg in 2023-2024.

This summer Senegal reached the last 32 of the World Cup, losing 3-2 after extra time to Belgium, having finished third in Group I behind France and Norway.

Vieira succeeds Pape Thiaw, after a contest that also featured Hervé Renard.
