When a new manager arrives, every player has to fight for their place again, and Pape Matar Sarr knew that would be the case as Patrick Vieira began his role as Senegal manager.
The Arsenal icon is the latest legendary figure to move into international management and has accepted the challenge of coaching one of the best national teams in Africa. Senegal have some of the best African talents in European football, and they will all look to give their best for their country.
With only a few minutes under his belt at club level, Sarr was never guaranteed a call up to the Senegal national team. His limited playing time made it difficult to know whether Vieira would include him in his first squad.
However, it was always possible that the midfielder could earn an opportunity to impress the new manager. Tuttojuve reveals that Sarr has been called up by Vieira for Senegal’s games during this international window.
The midfielder now has a chance to make a positive impression on the new manager and demonstrate that he can become an important player for the national team. Vieira will be assessing his options as he begins shaping the squad and preparing Senegal for the challenges ahead.

Sarr will hope to use the international window to show Vieira what he can offer and strengthen his position within the Senegal squad. The midfielder has the opportunity to establish himself under the new manager as the team looks to achieve even more as a major force on the continent.
For Juventus, the priority will be seeing Sarr return from international duty in good condition. The season is still at an early stage, and there is plenty more football to come for the midfielder at club level.
His involvement with Senegal also gives him an opportunity to gain valuable playing time and build confidence. With Vieira now in charge, Sarr will have to continue fighting for his place, but his inclusion in the squad provides him with a chance to show that he deserves a role in the new manager’s plans.
