Paul Baccaglini, former Palermo FC president, has died
It's a sad day for Italian football. Paul Mario Baccaglini, former president of Palermo Football Club, was found dead at his home in Segrate, near Milan. He was 41 years old.
The initial findings suggest the death may have been a suicide, and an autopsy is underway to determine the exact causes. An investigation has been launched by the Carabinieri and the public prosecutor after his body was discovered by his partner.
Born in 1981 in the United States, Baccaglini rose to fame in Italy thanks to the TV show "Le Iene." In 2017, he briefly served as president of Palermo FC, but his attempt to purchase the club ultimately fell through.
The Sicilian club responded with emotion:
Palermo FC, president Dario Mirri and the entire City Football Group family are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Paul Baccaglini, who served as president during the final months of the 2016–2017 season.
A national tribute may follow, as Italy mourns the loss of a figure both influential in the media and deeply connected to football.
