Paul Pogba has no intention of retiring from football despite another injury setback and the termination of his contract with Monaco, according to L’Equipe.

The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder is currently a free agent after Monaco ended his contract last month.

However, the 33-year-old star is determined to continue his playing career and is currently staying in the Monaco area while concentrating on his recovery from a thigh injury.

Pogba suffered the latest setback during a small-sided training match, just days after returning.

The Frenchman had already endured a frustrating period at Monaco, making only six appearances last season after joining the club on a two-year contract in June 2025.

Pogba had hoped the move would give him a platform to rebuild his career after his doping suspension and eventually force his way back into the France squad for the 2026 World Cup.

A succession of fitness problems prevented him from making the desired impact.

His latest injury came after he featured for only 45 minutes during Monaco’s pre-season victory over Saint-Priest on July 18.

A right knee problem subsequently kept him out of the club’s next four friendlies before his return to full training. That comeback lasted a few days.

Pogba was offered to several Major League Soccer clubs during the transfer window, but there were no takers.

Despite the latest blow, the France international is refusing to call time on his career and is focused on finding another opportunity.

Pogba will watch on with interest when new France manager Zinedine Zidane names his first squad since taking over from Didier Deschamps on Friday.

However, his own immediate priority is recovering from this thigh injury.
