According to L'Équipe, Monaco chief executive Thiago Scuro has left open the possibility of Paul Pogba departing this summer if his pre-season does not convince. The midfielder has returned to training with one year left on his contract after a first campaign limited to six brief appearances.
Monaco had hoped Pogba would build momentum from the first half of 2026. Instead, persistent physical issues have left doubts over whether he can readapt to the very highest level.
Scuro called the situation complicated. He said the club respects Pogba and valued his positivity and help with younger players when he arrived, but accepted the project with him did not work last season.
The plan is to monitor his progress week by week through pre-season, assessing physical and technical steps, before deciding whether it makes sense to continue together. Scuro added that the relationship is transparent and that, if the aims of player and club differ, they would seek a solution.
He did not rule out either outcome, noting Pogba might leave or might stay. Filipe Luis said Pogba can help the team and can rediscover his level, while stressing that every player will be judged on performances.
