Palmeiras have suffered a fresh setback after forward Paulinho sustained a new injury just as he neared a return to action.
Nosso Palestra understands the attacker should be out for about four weeks, then resume his physical transition.
He injured the adductor longus tendon in his right leg during training on Thursday 27. It is a new occurrence and not directly related to last year's surgery on the same leg. He will continue treatment with the club’s Núcleo de Saúde e Performance.
The setback came in the final phase of rehab, when he was being gradually exposed to football’s specific demands such as strength, speed and intensity.
Such cases can arise after extended layoffs during the readaptation period. The recovery from his previous operation is complete and he has followed the programme in full.
The club remain confident he can regain optimal levels and contribute at a high level once fit.
