Paulinho to miss at least seven Palmeiras games after new adductor tendon injury | OneFootball

Paulinho has suffered a new injury to the long tendon of his right adductor, delaying his Palmeiras comeback. He was set to be in the squad to face Mirassol on Sunday but will remain sidelined.

According to Globo.com, he was diagnosed on Friday morning after being hurt on Thursday 27 August, and is only expected back after the FIFA dates between 21 September and 6 October.

Over the next five weeks he will miss at least seven matches, including the Copa do Brasil quarter-final return at Santos, both Libertadores ties with LDU, and league games against Mirassol, Botafogo, São Paulo and Grêmio. After the break, Palmeiras host Bahia around 7 October, which could be added if he is not fully cleared.

Paulinho has received psychological support since mid last year, and after this setback the club offered private and public backing, with football director Anderson Barros and medical coordinator Pedro Pontin expressing confidence in his recovery and noting such issues can follow long layoffs.

Since joining in January 2025, Paulinho’s recovery from right tibia surgery at Atlético-MG has been turbulent. He returned in April, then refractured the area, played the Club World Cup despite the issue, then had another operation. After more than 300 days out he resumed in May 2026 with limited minutes against Santos, then sustained a left ankle sprain on 26 July, a right adductor injury on 2 August, and this latest problem on 27 August.
