Pavlidis starts early as Benfica prepare for pre-season amid Besiktas rumours | OneFootball

Vangelis Pavlidis is already back in training as he readies for Benfica’s new season, despite exit rumours and talk around his recent wedding.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Greek striker shared a photo on Tuesday while working in Thessaloniki, showing he has resumed preparations ahead of his return.

Benfica’s pre-season begins on 25 June, when Pavlidis is due to join the squad under Marco Silva, appointed after José Mourinho left for Real Madrid.

On 14 June he married Marianna Solkidou in Halkidiki, northern Greece. Team-mates Leandro Barreiro, Franjo Ivanovic and Samuel Dahl travelled to attend the ceremony.

Benfica director-general of football Mário Branco has addressed links with Besiktas, saying there have been no formal contacts or bids and that much of the noise is speculation.

He added that Benfica intend to keep Pavlidis and that the forward also wants to remain at the Luz, while acknowledging the market can be unpredictable. Pavlidis is expected at the start of pre-season.
