The upcoming weeks will be crucial for FC Barcelona as they look to make progress in the transfer window. For the Catalan giants, reinforcing the squad for next season is a major objective. To stay true to it, however, Barcelona must expend their resources when needed.

At the same time, however, the club is aware that they have limited resources to expend at the end of the day. That is why, through careful assessment and analysis, Barcelona must make sure that they only target players that they absolutely need at the club.

Barcelona now close to making a big signing

For now, one such target for Barcelona is Joan Garcia. A 24-year-old Spanish goalkeeper currently contracted to Espanyol, Garcia has managed to catch Barça’s eye through his great season and he is now seen as a priority transfer target for them.

In fact, as Fabrizio Romano confirmed, he is now on the verge of a becoming a new Barcelona player. Still, in the absence of an official announcement or proper confirmation from the most reliable sources, there is always a need to find more details and opinions.

Pedri has a message for Joan Garcia

As such, it is hardly surprising that the topic of Joan Garcia was brought up in front of Barcelona star Pedri recently while he is away on international duty. When asked about the goalkeeper and what message he had for him, Pedri was welcoming and praised the Espanyol player, as quoted by FCB World:

“Joan (Garcia) is a great goalkeeper, he has a lot of qualities. But he’s not our player yet, so I can’t say much.”

However, the Spanish midfielder made sure to let him know that he would be welcomed at the club and that it would be a great decision:

‘If he had the opportunity to join Barcelona, I would tell him it’s the best club in the world.”

As for what his signing would mean for another player at Barcelona in between the sticks, it remains unclear for now. What is clear, however, is that Marc-Andre Ter Stegen decided to avoid the topic of Joan Garcia’s potential arrival while on international duty with Germany.
